Cal Poly awarded NIFA grant for regenerative vegetable research

The National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) has awarded Cal Poly with a Non-Land-grant College of Agriculture Capacity Building Grant. These grants serve to develop research, education, and outreach.

This fund will support regenerative agriculture test plots, fostering sustainable farming practices and environmental conservation. Dr. Charlotte Decock and Dr. Matthew Grieshop will lead the research into how regenerative organic practices affect soil health, weed growth, insect populations, and crop yield. This project is focused on experiential learning for Cal Poly students to expand their knowledge of sustainable and organic agricultural practices.

"Our long-term vision is to provide California vegetable growers with the information and personnel to help our industry transition to more sustainable and climate resilient production practices." For more information about the project, visit the USDA's Current Research Information System.
