Cal Poly ASM builds the Organic Farm a field chiller for produce

During the Fall Quarter of 2023, Cal Poly Agricultural Systems Management student Sam Monckton constructed an evaporative cooler for the Cal Poly Organic Farm to store leafy greens and other vegetables during harvest. Watch the video of its construction by clicking here.

This project was overseen by Dr. Peter Livingston and the Grimm Family Organic Center's director, Dr. Matt Grieshop. The students, led by senior Sam Monckton, set out to find an initial chilling system during harvest to minimize the degradation of the crops.
